Support for Women's Economic and Social Development in Konya

Karatay Municipality, which has established a new brand by producing ice cream, jam, Turkish delight, soda, oil, and cologne from Lavender so far, has now started producing natural lavender soap and decorative candles. The municipality, which continues its efforts to contribute to the socialization of Karatay women and their economic life, has signed a new project. Within the scope of the "Atelier Karatay" project, which was initiated under the coordination of the Women's Assembly of the Karatay City Council, production of natural Lavender soap and decorative candles has started.

Before production, the women were informed about the properties of Lavender. In addition, a detailed training was given on the products that could be produced and the stages of production. After the training, the women from Karatay, who started producing lavender soap and decorative candles three days a week in the "Atelier Karatay" located in the Sedirler Social Facilities, thus creating a new economic value for Konya and Karatay.

The Mayor of Karatay, Hasan Kılca, emphasized that the municipality continues to implement every kind of project that supports women's presence in every aspect of life and helps them to develop and economically. He said, "As the Karatay Municipality, we are working to increase the presence of women in social, cultural, and economic life. Here, women convert the raw materials obtained from our Karatay Lavender Gardens into soap and candles. Through this project, women contribute to their family economies by acquiring a profession, and the products produced bring new economic value to our city and district. Seeing the increased efficiency and prosperity of our Lavender Gardens in many areas makes us very happy. As the Karatay Municipality, we will continue to contribute to women, economy and employment."
