The Power of Water Meets Energy in Konya

The Power of Water Meets Energy in Konya

Electricity will be produced on the Gembos Diversion Channel, which brings together the waters accumulated in the Derebucak Yılmaz Muslu Dam with Beyşehir Lake.

The Gembos Diversion Project, which was implemented years ago in order to save Beyşehir Lake, whose water level is gradually falling, will contribute to a completely different service these days. The construction of a new facility that will produce electricity on the Gembos Diversion Channel, which brings the waters accumulated in the basin in the winter months from the Derebucak Yılmaz Muslu Dam to Beyşehir Lake, has been completed. Within the established facility, it is aimed to produce electrical energy by benefiting from the power of the water flowing into Beyşehir Lake with the horizontal waterfall created on the channel.

In the statement made by the Regional Directorate on the subject, it was stated that "The power of water meets energy" and said, "Akça HEPP has come to an end. Akça HEPP has an installed capacity of 6.55 megawatts and will meet the electricity of approximately 10 thousand households. The works on the Derebucak Dam transmission line and the facility located within the borders of Akçabelen Neighborhood of Beyşehir have been completed and are in the process of accepting work."
