The UCLG-MEWA Innovation and Food Systems Forum, hosted by Selçuklu Municipality under the theme “Leadership, Transformation and Prosperity,” concluded with a technical tour showcasing the municipality’s flagship projects.
Hosted by Selçuklu Municipality, the internationally recognized UCLG-MEWA Innovation and Food Systems Forum brought together 136 local government representatives, experts and stakeholders from 11 countries in Konya. Throughout the forum, participants exchanged knowledge on innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable food systems while strengthening international cooperation.
Following the forum, the delegation, led by Selçuklu Mayor Ahmet Pekyatırmacı, visited several of the municipality’s flagship projects, including the Selçuklu Athlete Selection and Training Center, the Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden and the Selçuklu Flower Garden.
The delegation first toured the Selçuklu Athlete Selection and Training Center, one of Türkiye’s major sports investments, where they were briefed on the center’s operating model and its programs for identifying and developing future athletes.
The delegation then visited the Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden, where participants explored tropical plants and butterfly species from different continents. The municipality’s efforts to protect nature, the environment and biodiversity attracted considerable interest from the visitors.
The tour concluded at the Selçuklu Flower Garden, where the delegation expressed appreciation for Selçuklu Municipality’s landscaping initiatives and investments in green spaces. Participants toured the public spaces that enhance the city’s visual appeal and received detailed information from municipal officials about the projects.
