Kaygana (Fried Dough Dessert), one of the most delicious desserts of the Konya region, has received a Geographical Indication.
Konya, with its ancient culture and traditions, known as the cultural city of Anatolia, is also proving itself in the field of gastronomy.
With the registration of Kaygana by TURKPATENT, the number of products with a geographical indication in Konya reached 73. With this count, Konya is ranked second in Turkey.
Water, flour, sugar, and salt are mixed in a bowl. Then, fresh yeast is added to the dough in small pieces. The mixture is continued to be stirred vigorously. After fermenting at room temperature for 1 hour, the dough is mixed and shaped with the help of a teaspoon, then deep-fried in hot oil. The cooked dough is placed on a plate and served by dusting powdered sugar on top.
