Turkish Cuisine Week was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Konya, hosted by the Meram Municipality City and Life Culture Museum.
An unforgettable day that appealed to both the palate and the heart was experienced in Meram. Throughout the events, visitors had the opportunity to taste traditional Konya dishes and the exquisite flavors of Turkish cuisine.
The offerings of etliekmek, traditional Konya pilaf, tandoor pastry, Konya sherbets, and okra soup attracted great interest from visitors. Hundreds of people experienced these Konya delicacies served at the stands, taking a journey back in time. Guests attending the event also had the opportunity to tour and learn about Museum Meram, which beautifully reflects and represents the culture of Konya and Meram.
As part of the celebrations, the traditional barana culture was revived once again at Museum Meram. Performances accompanied by lively folk dances were crowned with traditional dance shows. The concert, where Konya folk songs echoed through live performances, offered the audience nostalgic moments.
As part of the events, awards were presented to the winners of various competitions. The Mevlevi Cuisine Contest held among women, the Dessert Plate Contest organized for high school students, and the Konya Tandoor Pastry workshops received great appreciation. Additionally, students welcomed visitors with dishes they had prepared at booths set up by high schools and universities.
Mayor of Meram, Mustafa Kavuş, expressed his happiness at hosting such a significant event, saying, “Turkish cuisine is an important part of our civilization. We fully support every initiative aimed at promoting it. We are grateful to all individuals, institutions, and organizations that contributed to this promotion through the Turkish Cuisine Week events.
