It is really hard to make “sacarası”; one of the most famous desserts of Konya but the taste is worth everything. The delicious cream between the thin doughs and the pistachio on the top are the elements that make this dessert unforgettable.
How to make “sacarası”?
Prepare your dough and knead the dough until it becomes as soft as your earlobe and make balls.
Cover with a wet cloth and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then, roll the doughs thin with wheat starch.
Cover one of the doughs with butter and fold in half. After that, put some cream on the round part and roll them. Put this roll dough into a baking tray by giving it the shape of a rose.
Do the same procedure until the dough finishes.
Spread melted butter over the rose-shaped doughs and bake them at 180 Celsius degrees in a preheated oven.
Boil sugar and water in a saucepan.
Add lemon juice and boil a little more. Then, let it cool.
While baked doughs are still hot spread over the cold sugar&water syrup. Wait for an hour. Decorate it with pistachios and serve when it is warm. Bon Appetit...
