Gavinna, a Sille tradition, is a type of pickled fish that was passed on from the non-Muslim people of Sille to the current Muslim people of Sille. For Gavinna, fish such as finfish, rudd and oilfish, which are barely available anymore, are preferred. Fish placed in salt in a glazed cube during their egg stage are ready to eat after about 3 months. The people of Sille, who do not recommend drinking water after eating Gavinna, relieve the heat caused by salt with strong tea.
