Meram Municipality has taken a new step to play an active role in combating environmental issues and climate change, and to accelerate efforts in zero waste and recycling.
In this context, the municipality is establishing an Environment and Climate Council. Meram Mayor Mustafa Kavuş stated that the council will be a significant milestone in implementing eco-friendly policies and ensuring a sustainable future.
The Meram Environment and Climate Council, composed of experts, scientists, NGO representatives, bureaucrats, and volunteers, was established with the aim of not only promoting environmental sustainability and combating climate change but also ensuring the district achieves its zero waste goals, raising social awareness, and encouraging eco-friendly practices.
The council, which will guide Meram's local government policies and help raise awareness among all citizens on climate and environmental issues, also aims to protect Meram's natural resources and ecosystem through the use of eco-friendly technologies and innovative solutions.
The Meram Environment and Climate Council, which will be established with the vision of transforming Meram into an eco-friendly, sustainable city intertwined with natural life, will contribute to the district gaining an environmentally friendly identity and help create a livable environment for future generations by preserving the region's ecosystem.
