Mayor Altay Attends Opening Ceremony in Northern Cyprus

The President of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities and Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, Uğur İbrahim Altay, attended the Executive Board Meeting of the Union and the opening ceremony of the new service building of Güzelyurt Municipality in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Uğur İbrahim Altay chaired the TDBB Executive Board Meeting for December, hosted by Güzelyurt Municipality.

Uğur İbrahim Altay said that he was very pleased to be in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which represents the will, dignity, and future of the Turkish nation at the heart of the Mediterranean.

Mayor Altay said, “I would also like to express my great satisfaction that the project design, along with the afforestation and landscaping works of this valuable facility, was carried out by our Selçuklu Municipality. The new service building of Güzelyurt Municipality will make a strong contribution to the city’s development, make life easier for our brothers and sisters in Güzelyurt, and further enhance the quality of local governance. I wish the New Central Service Building, completed with the support of the Development and Economic Cooperation Office of the Nicosia Embassy and through the own resources of Güzelyurt Municipality, to be beneficial.”

Mayor Altay said, “As the Union of Turkish World Municipalities, we will continue with determination to stand by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in every field and to carry this brotherhood from the local level into the future. The Turkish Cypriot people represent a dignified stance, standing on their own feet and protecting their identity, culture, and homeland today as they have throughout history. As the Republic of Türkiye, and at the level of local governments, we are also determined to stand by Turkish Cypriots in every field and to strengthen this brotherhood.”

Following the speeches, the opening ceremony of the new service building of Güzelyurt Municipality was held, with the ribbon cut by protocol members.
