Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay will preside over the World Organization of United Cities and Local Governments, the world's largest local government organization with more than 240 thousand members, in 2023. In 2023, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay will preside over the United Cities and Local Governments World Organization, where more than 240 thousand local governments are represented. At the UCLG World Local and Regional Leaders Summit hosted by the city of Daejeon, South Korea, after the election made by the member municipalities from 7 regional organizations; A consensus was reached for Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, South Korea Daejeon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Jang-Woo Lee, Uruguay Montevideo Metropolitan Mayor Carolina Cosse and Netherlands Hague Metropolitan Mayor Jan Van Zanen to serve as UCLG President for one year. Accordingly, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay will serve as the President of the World Union of Municipalities in 2023, the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic.
