Tatarstan Republic President Rustam Minnikhanov and a delegation consisting of ministers visited Uğur Ibrahim Altay, the Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality.
During the visit, attention was drawn to the importance of
strengthening the relationship between Konya and Tatarstan cities. Mayor Altay
emphasized that Konya has undertaken an important mission to promote Turkish
municipal governance worldwide. He stated that with this visit, the longstanding
deep-rooted relations between the two cities will be further strengthened.
Tatarstan Republic President Minnikhanov stated, "I
know that you are a very successful mayor. We are aware of the great work you
have done both in terms of urban development and municipal governance on a
global scale. The main purpose of our visit is to further enhance the relations
between our cities."
Expressing his satisfaction with the visit, Mayor Altay
stated, "This visit will mark the beginning of a new era between Konya and
Tatarstan. We have longstanding relations from the past, and we aim to further
strengthen them, hopefully through trade as well."
Tatarstan Republic President Minnikhanov also expressed that
Konya's history is much greater than one might think and made the following
remarks:
"You pay great attention to your history and preserve
your traditions. This is a significant and valuable richness. I congratulate
you for preserving it. I know that you are a very successful mayor. We are
aware of the great work you have done both in terms of urban development and
municipal governance on a global scale. The activities of the international
organizations you preside over are also very important. You provide great
support to our municipalities in this regard. The main purpose of our visit is
to further enhance the relations between our cities."
President Minnikhanov, after examining the Konya Digital
Promotion Center located in the Stone Building and receiving information from
Mayor Altay, signed the Metropolitan Municipality's Honorary Book.
