Uğur İbrahim Altay, President of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) and Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, attended the UCLG 2024 World Council held in The Hague, Netherlands.
The UCLG 2024 World Council is being held in The Hague, Netherlands, under the theme "A New Peace Agenda for Future Generations" as part of the 125th anniversary of The Hague as the International City of Peace and Justice, and the 20th anniversary of the current UCLG structure.
Before attending the UCLG World Council meetings, Uğur İbrahim Altay held a video call with Tayseer Abu-Sneineh, President of UCLG-MEWA and Mayor of Hebron, Palestine, who was not allowed to leave Palestine by the occupying Israeli authorities.
President Altay informed Abu-Sneineh that during the meetings he would mention the International Criminal Court’s delay in making a decision for 4.5 months regarding the arrest warrant issued on May 20 against Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Galant. He also stated that he would speak about Israel’s genocide in all of his speeches and that his prayers are always with the Palestinian people.
Abu-Sneineh expressed his gratitude to President Altay and the Turkish people, who have always supported them, while sharing the difficulties they have been experiencing.
