As part of the Seb i Arus commemorations, the performance titled “Do You Know What Sema Is?” will be staged for audiences in Konya on December 14, 15, and 16. The event will take place at the Selçuklu Congress Center and offers a contemporary interpretation of the Mevlevi Sema tradition.
Prepared by the Istanbul Meydan Meşkleri Ensemble, the performance presents Sema not only as a ritual but also as a spiritual journey that reflects humanity’s search for meaning, balance, and unity. Through music, movement, and symbolic storytelling, the audience is invited to experience the philosophical and spiritual depth of Sema in an immersive setting.
The production is directed by Yüce Gümüş, with postnişin duties undertaken by M. Fatih Çıtlak. Bringing together traditional elements with a modern artistic approach, the performance aims to help viewers better understand the essence of Sema and its place in Mevlevi culture.
Staged within the spiritual atmosphere of Seb i Arus, which commemorates the reunion of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi with the divine, the performance stands out as one of the notable cultural events of the week, offering both locals and visitors a meaningful artistic experience in Konya.
