Mayor Kavuş:

Mayor Kavuş: "Humanity is in Need of the Spiritual Legacy Left by Rumi"

Meram Mayor Mustafa Kavuş emphasized that Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi is one of the most important figures in our city, spiritual heritage, and ancient civilization. He said, "I remember with mercy, gratitude, and respect the great scholar, philosopher, mystic, and sultan of hearts, Mevlana, on the 751st anniversary of his reunion."

Meram Mayor Mustafa Kavuş, in his message on the 751st anniversary of Hazrat Mevlana’s passing, stated the following views: “Each anniversary of his reunion with the Divine reminds humanity of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi and the profound meaning of his messages of love, tolerance, and unity. Very few individuals in history have had the privilege of illuminating paths with their wisdom and ideas, filling hearts with compassion and mercy, and infusing lives with love and brotherhood centuries after their time. Yet, the flame ignited by Hazrat Mevlana in Konya continues to shine brightly, illuminating humanity with the same brilliance as it did on its first day.

The teachings of Hazrat Pir, which have inspired humanity for centuries, uniting hearts with the language of love, passion, and compassion, began their call for peace, brotherhood, and tolerance from this city. This places a great responsibility on our shoulders. As his heirs, every step we take with this awareness serves as a spark for a new 'future'.

I believe that the chaos the world is experiencing today presents a new opportunity to understand, preserve, and spread Mevlana’s legacy more deeply to all of humanity. For today, humanity is in greater need of the language of love, passion, compassion, and mercy than ever before. His faith, teachings, and messages are clearly the recipe for peace, salvation, and happiness in the world. He may have passed on to the eternal realm, but this city will continue to embrace the legacy he left with faith until the end of time. Serving Meram, where he spent a significant part of his life, established circles of remembrance and conversation, and often preferred for retreat, has always been a source of honor for us.

With these thoughts, I remember the great thinker, mystic, scholar, and sultan of hearts, Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi, on the 751st anniversary of his passing with mercy, gratitude, and respect. On this occasion, I once again wish patience and victory for the oppressed, especially those in our spiritual geography, and peace, love, and harmony for all humanity.”
