Akşehir Hosts 11th International Paragliding Distance Race

The 11th Akşehir International XC OPEN 2024 Paragliding Distance Race has begun in Akşehir district of Konya.

The race, held from June 18 to 23, 2024, is a collaborative effort organized by the Konya Governor's Office, Akşehir District Governor's Office, Akşehir Municipality, Turkish Air Sports Federation, and Akşehir Sports Aviation Club.

A diverse group of 98 skilled pilots from both Turkey and abroad are participating in this year's competition, including nine talented female pilots. The picturesque Ekrem Çavdar Paragliding Takeoff Field serves as the launch point for the pilots, who will navigate the skies in a test of skill and endurance.

The race not only highlights the adventurous spirit of the participants but also emphasizes the beauty and potential of Akşehir as a premier location for air sports. The event is expected to draw significant attention from both local spectators and international paragliding enthusiasts.

As the competition progresses, the excitement will culminate in an awards ceremony to honor the top-ranking pilots. This ceremony will take place at the Akşehir Cultural Center, celebrating the achievements and extraordinary performances of the participants.
