Konya Metropolitan Municipality is organizing numerous events as part of European Mobility Week.
Mayor of Konya, Uğur İbrahim Altay, stated that through the events organized by the Metropolitan Municipality as part of European Mobility Week, which is celebrated in Konya along with over 2,000 cities across Europe between September 16-22 every year, they aim to raise awareness.
He emphasized that in Konya, the city with Turkey's longest bicycle path at 635 kilometers, they are working hard to raise awareness of an active lifestyle, a clean environment, and the use of bicycles, especially among students and citizens of all ages.
As part of European Mobility Week, Konya Metropolitan Municipality distributed reflective vests on bicycle paths early in the morning on the first day. Citizens who commute to work by bicycle expressed their satisfaction with receiving the vests and thanked the Metropolitan Municipality for the initiative.
In Konya, known as the city of bicycles, the Metropolitan Municipality is working to raise awareness, particularly among students, about bicycle use. As part of the week's activities, they are providing public transportation training at designated schools to help students become more informed.
