European Track Cycling Championships Conclude Successfully in Konya

The 2026 UEC Elite European Track Cycling Championships, one of the most prestigious events in European track cycling, concluded in Konya, the 2026 European Cycling Capital, from February 1 to 5.

As Türkiye’s only Olympic velodrome and one of the few in the world, the Konya Olympic Velodrome hosted Europe’s elite cyclists, with the heart of European cycling beating in Konya for five days.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that Konya had once again hosted a major international event.

Mayor Altay noted that they had successfully completed the European Track Cycling Championships at the Konya Velodrome, which is regarded by athletes as the fastest track in the world. He stated that 315 athletes from 34 countries competed in the velodrome and that multiple world records were broken. Emphasizing the feedback from participants, Mayor Altay said that there was a shared consensus on the high organizational capability, quality, and overall satisfaction of the event. He added that Konya had hosted one of the finest competitions in the world in this field. Holding the title of 2026 European Cycling Capital, Konya once again demonstrated its strong cycling infrastructure and organizational expertise through this championship. Mayor Altay also expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the organization, especially the Turkish Cycling Federation and the European Cycling Union, as well as to all the athletes who took part in the event.
