Konya Metropolitan Municipality organized a series of vibrant events throughout European Mobility Week, celebrated from September 16-22.
Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay emphasized that during European Mobility Week, celebrated simultaneously in Konya and over 2,000 cities across Europe, they aimed to highlight the importance of healthy living, mobility, and cycling through the events they organized.
As part of European Mobility Week, held from September 16-22 with the aim of leaving a clean environment for future generations, protecting nature, and preventing air pollution, the Metropolitan Municipality distributed reflective vests to cyclists on bike paths in the city center. Throughout the week, the bike tram provided free service, while primary school students received bike-related education. In an event themed "High School Students Explore the City by Bike," high schoolers traveled by bike tram, visiting various mosques and museums to get to know the city better. Additionally, a Beyşehir Tour was organized for cycling enthusiasts, allowing participants to discover the natural beauty of Beyşehir. The week also included a cycling event aimed at disadvantaged individuals.
On the final day of European Mobility Week, celebrated as "Car-Free Day," a cycling event was held with the Konya Cycling Community. Organized to draw attention to bike use on traffic-free streets, the "Car-Free Day" bike ride saw participation from local cycling associations, communities, coaches, athletes, and cycling enthusiasts.
