Konya Athletes Continue Winning Across Sports


Konya Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club continues to both represent the city in the best possible way and contribute to Turkish sports with the achievements it has earned across different branches.


Cycling Team Continues to Collect Medals in the New Season


The UCI 1.2 Grand Prix Alaiye Race, included in the activity programs of the Union Cycliste Internationale and the Turkish Cycling Federation, was held in Alanya. The second race of the 2026 season took place over a distance of 127 kilometers, with the participation of 119 athletes from 19 teams representing 21 countries.


In the race, which featured professional cyclists from prominent clubs across different continents, athletes from Konya Büyükşehir Belediyespor secured podium finishes, successfully representing both the country and the city.


Mustafa Tarakçı and Ramazan Yılmaz Make Konya Proud


In this crucial race, which also gave teams the opportunity to test their seasonal performance, Konya's athletes Mustafa Tarakçı and Ramazan Yılmaz, considered among the future key members of the national team, reached the podium. In the race, which ended with a team effort and a sprint finish, Mustafa Tarakçı claimed the silver medal by a wheel margin, while Ramazan Yılmaz secured the bronze. Mustafa Tarakçı also became the champion in the U-23 category.


The International Alaiye Criterium Race, included in the Turkish Cycling Federation’s activity program, was contested by 96 athletes over 25 laps of 1.7 km each, totaling 42.5 kilometers. Battling fiercely against strong competitors, Konya Büyükşehir Belediyespor’s Ramazan Yılmaz finished the race in first place and took home the gold medal.


Konya's Judokas Return from Kocaeli with 5 Medals


The Spor Toto Senior Turkey Judo Championship was held in Kocaeli on January 21–22.


The championship saw the participation of 693 athletes from 52 cities, including 376 men and 317 women. Konya Büyükşehir Belediyespor competed with 12 athletes, and its judokas did not leave the mat empty-handed, finishing with a total of five medals. By the end of the two-day event, the yellow-black club’s athletes had secured 1 gold and 4 bronze medals.


Competing in the 70 kg category, Ecem Baysuğ defeated her opponents one by one to claim the gold medal. In addition, Şeyma Yıldırım in the 48 kg, Sude İnan in the 52 kg, Kevser Dilbirliği in the 78 kg, and Mehmet Kısa in the 100 kg categories each earned bronze medals with third-place finishes.


The championship, held for the first time on five mats in the senior category, featured high-paced matches, and the performances of the Konya's athletes received great applause.
