Konya Hosts Mevlana International Judo Training Camp

The "Mevlana International Judo Training Camp," hosted by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, brings together national athletes from 10 different countries in Konya, Turkey.


Sezer Huysuz, the President of the Turkish Judo Federation, stated that in Konya Sports and Congress Center, where the camp is held, both national and international valuable events are organized in Konya.


Huysuz mentioned that approximately 350 athletes participated in the camp, emphasizing the excellent working environment. He stated, "The impact of the development in our country's infrastructure on the international community is evident here. Konya has made significant contributions to Turkish judo and produced great athletes. National athlete Sinem Oruç, who won the gold medal at the European Judo Championships in Portugal, is a member of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club. Participants from other countries will train together for 5 days at the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mevlana International Judo Training Camp. This will contribute significantly to both Turkish judo and European countries. I express my sincere thanks to the coaches, administrators, officials, and the Konya Metropolitan Municipality for their efforts in organizing this event. It is truly a beautiful organization for our country."


Sinem Oruç, a member of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, shared that she has been practicing judo for 9 years and has achieved European and World championships. She mentioned, "I have won silver at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF). My dream is to win an Olympic medal. We are working hard with all our strength for the 2028 Olympics, both as a team and individually. I would like to express my gratitude to Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay and the president of our club for providing us with these opportunities and for their support. It's a great camp, and hopefully, it will continue this way."


National athletes from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Greece, Chechnya, Kyrgyzstan, Jordan, Uzbekistan, and various cities in Turkey expressed their appreciation for the camp organization, thanking everyone involved.
