Konya Hosts Prestigious 2026 UEC Elite Track Cycling Championships

The 2026 UEC Elite European Track Cycling Championships, one of the most prestigious events in European track cycling, is being hosted by Konya, the 2026 European Cycling Capital.


The first day of competition excitement was experienced in the races that began at the Konya Olympic Velodrome, one of Turkey’s only and one of the world’s few Olympic velodromes.


Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that they strive to be stakeholders in all events held in the city, saying: “We are also especially happy that one of our Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club athletes is competing on the national team. I wish success to our athlete, our national team, and all athletes. We invite all residents of Konya to attend this high-quality and exciting event, which will continue until February 5. I would like to thank everyone who contributed and wish the event success.”


Following the speech delivered by European Cycling Union President Enrico Della Casa, Governor Akın, Mayor Altay, and members of the protocol presented awards to the athletes who placed at the end of the first day.


With an intense competition schedule continuing at the Konya Olympic Velodrome until February 5, the heart of European cycling will beat in Konya, the 2026 European Cycling Capital.
