The UCI Track Cycling Nations Cup, one of the world's most prestigious track cycling events, will be held in Konya from March 14 to 16, 2025, marking its first-ever occurrence in Turkey. As part of the event's preparations, the Coordination Committee Meeting was held under the chairmanship of Governor İbrahim Akın.
The meeting, held at the Karatay Youth Center, was attended by Major General Cemil Lütfi Özkul, Commander of the Provincial Gendarmerie, Deputy Governor Aydın Erdoğan, Karatay District Governor Cengiz Ayhan, relevant institution directors, President of the Turkish Cycling Federation Emin Müftüoğlu, and other officials.
Governor Akın, who met with representatives of relevant institutions at the meeting organized to ensure the flawless execution of all stages of the event, including security, health, transportation, safety, and promotion, emphasized that international events like this are of great importance for the city's promotion. The event will involve participants from over 40 countries across five continents and nearly 400 athletes.
Governor Akın stated, "Our city's capacity is at a level that can support such events. Our task is to coordinate the available resources in the best possible way and successfully complete the process."
