Selçuk University Students Make a Mark at European Championships

Students from Selçuk University Faculty of Sports Sciences broke the European record on the first day of the European Weightlifting Championship held in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.


On the first day of the European Weightlifting Championships held in the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, students from Selçuk University Faculty of Sports Sciences representing our country broke the European record.


Cansu Bektaş and Gamze Altun, students from Selçuk University Faculty of Sports Sciences representing our country in the 45 kg category, made a significant impact.


Bektaş and Altun won 3 gold and 2 silver medals, breaking 2 European records as well.


Selçuk University Faculty of Sports Sciences, Coaching Department, a third-year student and National Athlete Cansu Bektaş became the European Champion for the second consecutive time, breaking a European record with 163 kg, while winning gold and silver medals.


Selçuk University Faculty of Sports Sciences, Coaching Department, a first-year student and National Athlete Gamze Altun finished fifth overall while reaching for the gold medal by breaking a European record. The national weightlifter achieved the European runner-up title with a total of 157 kg.
