Tahir Efe Şahin Wins Gold at ITTF World Para Future in Spain


Tahir Efe Şahin, a player from the Karatay Belediyespor Table Tennis Team, won the gold medal with his outstanding performance at the ITTF World Para Future Costa Brava 2026 Tournament held in Spain.


Representing the national team, Karatay athlete Tahir Efe Şahin showcased an intense display of competition at the championship organized by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) from March 26 to 29, 2029, finishing first in his category.


Competing in the Men’s Class 7 category, the accomplished athlete outperformed his opponents with an outstanding performance, securing first place in his category and bringing a gold medal to our country while representing the national team.


Thirteen-year-old Tahir Efe Şahin, who began playing table tennis following his family’s guidance after undergoing surgery due to an illness affecting his arm and leg, has been pursuing professional sports for four years, continuing to set an example for those around him and adding new achievements to his record.


Tahir Efe Şahin, whose sports journey began as a way to prevent the progression of his illness and has now led him to become a national athlete, aims to compete in the 2028 Olympics and represent the national team with distinction, maintaining his consistent performance with determination and dedication.


Hasan Kılca, Mayor of Karatay, expressed his great joy over the achievement and congratulated the successful athlete Tahir Efe Şahin, who brought a gold medal to our country wearing the national jersey, along with his family and coaches.
