Turkey's Cycling Federation President Celebrates Konya Velodrome as a Milestone

Turkey Cycling Federation President Emin Müftüoğlu stated that the Konya Velodrome marks an important beginning for Turkish cycling history.



Müftüoğlu, who came to Erzurum for the MTA Cup Rice Series International Mountain Bike Races held in Palandöken as part of the Republic's 100th-anniversary celebrations, assessed the federation's activities and goals.



Müftüoğlu, reminiscing that they became the European youth champions in 2011, mentioned that they used to prepare their athletes abroad before the velodrome in Konya was opened.



Müftüoğlu, emphasizing that the indoor Olympic velodrome constructed in Konya's Meram district marks an important beginning for Turkish cycling history, pointed out that velodromes are the temples of cycling.



Müftüoğlu, highlighting the significance of 2023 for Turkish cycling history, stated, "In terms of cycling history, this year is one of the most important, a historic year in terms of achievements. We won 1 silver and 1 bronze medal in Europe. We also achieved fifth place in the World Championships."
