Karapınar GES will prevent more than 1.5 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
The Karapınar Solar Power Plant (GES), established in the
Karapınar district of Konya, has started producing electricity at full
capacity. The power plant is as big as 2,800 football fields.
In his statement, Ziya Altunyaldız, the Chairman of the
Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology
Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and AK Party Deputy of
Konya, reminded that installation and assembly works have been completed at the
facility.
Altunyaldız stated that Karapınar GES, which has started
electricity production, is ready for inauguration. "On May 2nd, Tuesday,
we will put it into service with the visit of our President Recep Tayyip
Erdoğan to Konya. It is already producing energy, but with a ceremony, our
President will dedicate it as a gift to our country and Konya," he said.
