Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ugur Ibrahim Altay held a press briefing on the locally developed "Digital Twin Technology Project," which integrates all smart transportation systems under the municipality's administration.
Mayor Altay stated, “Transportation, the lifeline of a city, is not just about roads, intersections, and public transport systems; it is also the greatest indicator of a civilization’s vision, the value it places on human life, and its aspirations for the future.”
Mayor Altay emphasized that the Konya Model Municipality approach goes beyond merely building roads, stating that they are shaping a strong future for the city with smart, efficient, and eco-friendly transportation systems. He added, “One of our key transportation projects in this regard is the Digital Twin Technology Project, which integrates all smart transportation systems. Smart transportation systems are crucial for managing modern cities more efficiently, sustainably, and in an environmentally friendly manner. These systems encompass technological infrastructures that regulate traffic flow, optimize public transportation services, and provide eco-conscious, user-focused solutions. We can view these systems as a pyramid model designed to facilitate people’s lives and carry Konya into the future. Each layer of the pyramid functions in an integrated manner, bringing our city’s transportation vision to life.”
Mayor Altay recalled that Konya is recognized as a model city for its smart urban initiatives and continued his remarks by saying:
“With our Digital Twin Technology and its integrated projects, Konya has achieved a more environmentally friendly, efficient, and sustainable transportation network. Thanks to these efforts, we are positioning our city as a leader in smart urban development. As Konya Metropolitan Municipality, we will continue to prepare our city for the future through technology and innovation, providing our residents with a more comfortable life. As you know, we are the leading municipality in Turkey when it comes to smart city applications. I say this with confidence—both the awards we have received and the projects we have implemented speak for themselves. I believe we are the first municipality in Turkey to accomplish a project of this scale. Our goal is to make life easier for the people of our city. I extend my gratitude to all my colleagues who have worked tirelessly on this initiative.”
