One of the natural beauties of the Meram district in Konya,
Kızlar Rock (In English, it means “Girls' rock”), is being developed for
tourism by the Meram Municipality.
Meram Municipality Mayor Mustafa Kavuş stated that the
renovation of Kızlar Rock is one of the most significant projects of the
historical and tourism route starting from Meram's Last Stop Çamlıbel area. He
emphasized that once the work is completed, this natural beauty will become one
of the focal points of attraction in Meram.
Meram Municipality is nearing completion of the efforts to
promote Kızlar Rock, the fairy chimneys of Meram Stream, which have gained fame
beyond the borders of Konya and the country, for tourism. Meram Mayor Mustafa
Kavuş, who noted that the revision, landscaping, and lighting works in the area
located in the Dere neighborhood have been progressing rapidly, inspected the
site to gather information about the status of the project. Mayor Kavuş
emphasized that the renovation of Kızlar Rock is one of the most significant
projects along the historical and tourism route starting from Meram's Last Stop
Çamlıbel area, and when the project is completed, the area will become one of
the attractive destinations in Meram.
Mayor Mustafa Kavuş emphasized that once the completed
projects contribute significantly to both the social life and tourism of both
the Meram and Dere neighborhood, they will attract numerous visitors from
within and outside the city. He highlighted that the project will ensure that
the Dere neighborhood and the Kızlar Rock region receive the recognition and
value they deserve.
Mayor Kavuş indicated that the renovation, landscaping,
lighting, and improvement of accessibility in Kızlar Rock will be completed in
a short period of time. He stated, "Our Dere neighborhood and this area
are one of the most beautiful regions of our city in many aspects. It shares
similar geographical features with Kilistra and Cappadocia. Due to neglect in
the past, it did not receive the necessary attention it deserved. Through our
efforts, the true value of this area will be revealed. Our citizens will
experience a similar atmosphere to visiting Cappadocia. We are creating a
terrace area without disturbing the natural surroundings and making it visually
appealing with proper lighting."
