Prehistoric Researches in Seydişehir, Gökhüyük

The prehistoric research studies, which are started in an area of Gökhüyük neighbourhood, Seydişehir district, are going to enlighten 5 different eras.
Mehmet Tural, the Mayor of Seydişehir Municipality, stated that the studies, which are being carried out in a mound within the borders of Gökhüyük neighbourhood in Seydişehir, will make a great contribution to understand the prehistoric eras in the south of the central Anatolia.
While expressing that some findings that belong to 5 different eras have been detected with the works done via scientific methods up to know, Tutal said that “in the excavation works some pots and pans’ parts which belong to Hellenistic and Roman periods have been found in the topping layer. Also, under this layer, we have detected ceramics which belong to Iron Age, Bronze Age, Chalcolithic period and Neolithic Age. Around the area, Suberde and Erbaba were previously excavated and those successive eras couldn’t be detected. Moreover, in Çatalhöyük, which is in an air distance of 150 kilometres, those successive ears couldn’t be detected, either. For this reason, the excavation works in Gökhüyük have a great importance because they carry traces of 5 different eras.”
