The Ali Hill is a historical mound located south of the Karapınar district center. Situated within the borders of the Kocatepe neighborhood, the mound was an important settlement area in ancient times.
Surface surveys revealed various remains dating back to the Bronze and Iron Ages, Hellenistic and Roman periods. It is believed to have been a significant settlement center from the beginning of the second millennium BC. Legend has it that the Seljuks used it for communication purposes.
Local legends claim there are underground shelters at the base of the hill. In 1955, a water reservoir was built east of Ali Hill, supplying drinking water to the city. In 1967, the ruins on top were demolished to build the Municipal Culture Park.
Today, there is a highway leading to the hill, with two exits reaching the summit. Recently, the area underwent a new environmental development project, giving it a more modern look and creating a new recreation area for the city. Once the entire project is completed, the summit will become a model resting and picnic area with walking paths and gazebos.
