Uyuz Lake, located within the boundaries of the Kulu
district in Konya, captivates with its natural beauty.
A picturesque view has emerged at Uyuz Lake (also known as
Kömüşini Lake), located near Kömüşini Neighborhood, which is approximately 30
kilometers away from the Kulu district.
The lake, which was declared a protected area in 1992 and
gained the status of a special conservation area due to the breeding population
of the Red-crested Pochard, has become a popular destination for locals as
well.
The residents living near the lake come here to harvest
reeds from the marshes. Additionally, the surrounding agricultural lands also
benefit from this lake.
The lake, located within the Konya closed basin and the
sub-basin of Salt Lake also serves as a habitat for various species of birds
during migration periods.
With recent rainfall, there has been an increase in the
water level of the lake.
Residents from cities and districts such as Konya, Ankara,
Kulu, Gölbaşı, Şereflikoçhisar, Bala, and Haymana come here to relax and take
the opportunity to observe birds through the bird observatory established in
the area.
