The "Potato Planting and Harvesting Machinery Support" offered by Selçuklu Municipality to support farmers in order to strengthen rural development and regional production in the outer neighborhoods made farmers smile.
The harvest of potatoes produced on a total of 100 decares of land in the villages of Ulumuhsine, Küçükmuhsine, Akpınar, Selahattin, Tepekent, and Yükselen, coordinated by the Selçuklu Municipality Rural Services Directorate, with Başarakavak Village as the center, has been completed through leasing opportunities.
The support project, aimed at reducing the workload and increasing production, provides great convenience for farmers. The Selçuklu Municipality has acquired potato planting and harvesting machines, which are operated in Başarakavak Village's municipal auxiliary building. These machines, with a power of 60 horsepower, can easily plant and harvest on 3 decares of land per hour, a task that tractors can comfortably perform. This allows the machines to be easily used by all farmers.
Selçuklu Municipality Mayor Ahmet Pekyatırmacı stated, "As we work on what can be done to increase product variety, expand production possibilities, and ensure that the products produced can gain economic value under better conditions, we are sharing our capabilities with our neighborhood residents. In Başarakavak Village, we have delivered our Potato Planting and Harvesting equipment to the municipal auxiliary service building, which farmers can easily rent to carry out their production. Our farmers benefit from both of these machines at a low cost, separately for planting and harvesting seasons. By doing so, we will contribute to production in our outer suburbs, increase product variety, and provide opportunities for our young people to reside in their own regions. Within the scope of these efforts, we will further increase support for rural development in Selçuklu."
