Selçuklu Sets an Example with Compost Production

The Selçuklu Municipality participated in the SERAFEST event held at the Konya Science Center and informed citizens about compost production.

The Selçuklu Municipality took part in the "SERAFEST" event, held from May 24-26 at the Konya Science Center, with a dedicated compost production workshop.

At SERAFEST, where nature and science enthusiasts gathered for various workshops and exhibitions related to greenhouses and nature, the Selçuklu Municipality's compost stand received significant interest from citizens and students.

At the event, visitors to the stand were informed about compost production and advised on what they could do individually at home.

In addition, information was provided about the benefits and advantages of compost, as well as why it is necessary to use compost in agriculture. Visitors were given samples of compost to experience for themselves.

Selçuklu Mayor Ahmet Pekyatırmacı stated, "One of our initiatives related to the environment and zero waste is the conversion of waste into organic fertilizer. Our teams collect organic waste from markets, hotels, and shopping centers, and combine them at our compost production center, transforming them into fertilizer within 45 days. This way, we not only prevent a large amount of organic waste in our city from going to landfill, but also create economic value from this organic waste by turning it into fertilizer."
