Tons of Local Seeds are Being Produced in Konya

In Turkey, a total of 1,324,222 tons of certified seed production, primarily for cereals, pulses, potatoes, and other edible plants, was carried out, with 372,620 tons of this production taking place in the Konya Plain.

A total of 28% of certified seed production in Turkey is carried out in the Konya Plain, which holds a significant place in Turkey's agricultural production. With its favorable climate conditions for many crops and extensive agricultural land, Konya primarily cultivates various products, including wheat, barley, sunflower, and potatoes.

According to the 2021 data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, out of the total certified seed production of 1,324,222 tons in Turkey, with a focus on cereals, pulses, potatoes, and forage crops, 372,620 tons were produced in Konya. Following Konya in certified seed production were Şanlıurfa with 145,154 tons and Diyarbakır with 85,686 tons.
