The wastewater treatment plant in Ilgın plays a key role in enabling the reuse of treated water for agricultural irrigation while reducing environmental impacts.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality continues its wastewater treatment efforts in Ilgın through an ongoing treatment plant project designed to enable the use of treated wastewater for agricultural irrigation.
Ahmet Demir, General Manager of the municipality’s water and wastewater administration KOSKI, inspected the Ilgın Wastewater Treatment Plant and shared information on its technical capacity. Demir stated that the facility, built with an investment of 301 million Turkish lira, operates with advanced treatment technologies widely used across the world. He noted that the plant carries out critical processes including nitrogen, phosphorus, and carbon removal.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality aims to minimize the environmental impact of wastewater through this facility while ensuring that treated water is discharged and reused under safe and controlled conditions. The project also contributes to sustainable water management practices, particularly in agriculture.
Demir emphasized that the treatment plant has a capacity sufficient to meet the needs of approximately 41,000 people.
