Karatay Conferences Highlight Historic Figures

The "Celaleddin Karatay Conferences," organized in collaboration with the Karatay Municipality, Necmettin Erbakan University Culture and Civilization Application and Research Center, and the Konya Regional Directorate of Foundations, are ongoing.

Dr. Yaşar Erdemir discussed in detail the works commissioned by Seljuk Emir Celaleddin Karatay, one of the most important statesmen of the Seljuk Empire, and his family in Konya.

Dr. Yaşar Erdemir stated, "Celaleddin Karatay, one of the most famous and important figures of the Anatolian Seljuk State, is among the most trusted statesmen. He was a devout and honest man. Celaleddin Karatay and his family commissioned many works in Konya. However, we can say that the Karatay Madrasa is the most significant of these. In fact, this madrasa was so highly regarded by Westerners that it became the subject of the works written by all travelers and researchers who came to Turkey starting from the early 1800s."
