EU-Funded Eco Project Progresses in Ilgın

EU-Funded Eco Project Progresses in Ilgın

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ugur Ibrahim Altay inspected the Ilgın Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is nearing completion.

Mayor Altay emphasized that developing infrastructure projects at the district level is one of the municipality's top priorities, stating that by 2029, every district in Konya will have a wastewater treatment plant.

Highlighting that the Ilgın Wastewater Treatment Plant reflects Konya Metropolitan Municipality's commitment to the environment and people, Mayor Altay stated:

"With a population of 50,000, Ilgın has been unable to provide this service using the resources of its district municipality for years. One of the most significant contributions of the new Metropolitan Law to our country is this awareness. Our Ilgın Wastewater Treatment Plant, a vital eco-friendly facility, will treat wastewater through advanced biological processes, ensuring it is discharged into nature without causing harm.

While these efforts may not directly impact people's daily lives, we are investing millions of liras out of respect for the environment, humanity, and nature. We aim to complete and put the facility into service by the end of the year, fulfilling one of the promises we made."

Mayor Altay noted that approximately 50% of the facility's funding comes from the European Union, with the remaining half covered by the municipality's own resources. He emphasized that KOSKİ has been making significant infrastructure investments both in the city center and in the districts, wishing the wastewater treatment plant to bring good fortune to the region.
