KÖSİP support of the KPP Administration becomes a lifeline for the people of the region. With grant support for pond construction and closed irrigation system conversions, while new areas are being brought into agriculture, young people who migrate for economic reasons are returning to their villages.
Mahmut Sami Şahin, Head of Konya Plain Project Regional Development Administration, who examines the project sites on site with the principle of effective and efficient use of public investments, stated that “We supply water to the local people with the projects supported by the administration. In case of the situation caused by climate change, various studies will be carried out to reduce the impact of drought by applying new irrigation technologies in order to use water more effectively and efficiently in agriculture. He pointed out the significant changes experienced in the lives of farmers from Yunuslar and Damlapınar with a total of 3.590.000 TL financial support. Thanks to the construction of the pond and the support of the dam on the stream, an irrigation capacity that will cover an area of approximately 180 hectares was revealed. The agricultural areas that could not be planted before have gained water. The local people, who mainly do dry farming, can now grow products such as vegetables and fruits, which have economic value, thanks to closed irrigation systems. Such projects provide income and employment to the people of the local people in a very short time.”
