10,000-Year-Old Çatalhöyük to Gain Global Recognition

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that “the Çatalhöyük Promotion and Welcome Center, with its completed physical structure and ongoing interior design, is now counting down to serve the country’s tourism”. Altay emphasized that “the center, which they have established to ensure wider recognition of the approximately 10,000-year-old Çatalhöyük, listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, will warmly welcome and inform visitors from all around the world. He expressed his hopes for the success of this significant investment.

 

 

The final stages of construction are being reached for the Çatalhöyük Promotion and Welcome Center, a project initiated by Konya Metropolitan Municipality. Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay highlighted that Konya, having hosted numerous civilizations throughout history, holds one of its most significant heritages, the 10,000-year-old Çatalhöyük, known as one of the oldest settlements in the World.

 

 

Stating that preserving and passing down Çatalhöyük, listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, is a great responsibility for them, Mayor Altay said, “Our Çatalhöyük Promotion and Welcome Center is now counting down to serve the country’s tourism. With this center, we will warmly welcome and inform visitors from all around the world to ensure wider recognition of Çatalhöyük. After completing the interior design, we will soon present this center to our city’s tourism.”

 

 

Mayor Altay also emphasized that “the center is Turkey’s largest wooden public investment”. He expressed his wishes for the success of this crucial investment, which will add value to Konya’s and Turkey’s tourism. The Çatalhöyük Promotion and Welcome Center, realized by Konya Metropolitan Municipality, covers an area of 28,500 m2.
