658-year-old mosque draws attention in Konya

The Bayındır Mosque, which is often referred to as a miniature of the Eşrefoğlu Mosque, also known as the "Nailless Mosque," included in the UNESCO World Heritage list in recent days, stands out with its 658-year history and its short minaret.

The Bayındır Mosque in the Beyşehir district of Konya, known for its wooden architecture and decorations, with a history of 658 years, draws attention with its short minaret.

The Bayındır Mosque, located in the Bayındır neighborhood of Beyşehir, which is said to have been built in the year 1365, is ready to be introduced and welcomes visitors.

Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Muşmal, a faculty member in the History Department of Selçuk University, emphasized that Bayındır is a very modest settlement, with its residents mainly engaged in livestock farming. He highlighted that the village is not only rich in greenery but also boasts beautiful stone and bay-windowed houses, making it a tranquil and historically significant place.

Muşmal pointed out the significance of the Bayındır Mosque, which is located in the center of the village, noting that while it shares the characteristic of being constructed in the wooden pillar and wooden architectural style typical of many mosques and prayer places in Beyşehir, its distinctive feature that immediately catches the eye is its short minaret.
