The head of the Bitlis Ahlat Seljuk Cemetery Excavation, who came to Konya at the invitation of Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca, made an inspection of the Obruk Cemetery, which dates back to 800 years ago, across the Obruk Inn with Mayor Hasan Kılca.
Mehmet Kulaz, the Director of the Bitlis Ahlat Seljuk Cemetery Excavation, emphasized that Obruk Cemetery is entirely an Islamic burial ground, stating, "Each grave in Obruk Cemetery is a historical document and our cultural treasures that shed light on our centuries-old history."
Anatolia, which has housed various cultures from the earliest ages to the present day, has become a cultural mosaic enriched by the diversity it encompasses, resembling an open-air museum. In this context, tombstones, which serve as historical documents of their respective eras, hold great significance.
The historical Obruk Cemetery, located right across from the Obruk Inn, dating back 800 years, with its characteristics, is like a beacon to centuries past and is a rich historical treasure waiting to be discovered.
