Konya, one of the leading health cities in Turkey, has
revealed that the foundation of its Numune Hospital dates back to the Ottoman
Empire. Investigations have revealed that one of the most prestigious health
hospitals in the Ottoman Empire was in Istanbul and the other was in Konya. It
was learned that the Gureba Hospital in Konya is today's Numune Hospital.
Konya Numune Hospital emerges as Konya Gureba Hospital,
which provided the highest quality healthcare service in the final years of the
Ottoman Empire.
The same hospital becomes Numune Hospital during the
Republic Era, and today, this hospital continues to serve at its best in the
heart of the city.
The reason for sending the wounded to Konya Gureba Hospital
during the war is that, during the Ottoman era, the two highest-quality
hospitals were located in two places: 1- Istanbul, 2- Konya. Since Istanbul was
under occupation, they were being sent to Konya.
Konya Gureba Hospital later lost its function during the
Republic era and served for years as the former building of today's Numune
Hospital. Subsequently, a new modern hospital was built in the area of Numune
Hospital, and today, the highest quality healthcare service continues to be
provided to the people of Konya by the government.
