Roman Ruins on Takkeli Mountain

Excavations started in 2012 on the skirts of Takkeli Mountain, at an altitude of 1720, located within the borders of the Selçuklu district, and many rock tombs have been unearthed at the point dated to the 3-4th century. 


On Takkeli Mountain, which has traces of Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuks, Karamanoğulları and Ottoman Empire, important findings were reached in 10 years.


In the place, which has historical walls, many water cisterns and temples on its summit and is also called Gevele Mountain in historical sources, cannonballs from the period of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, palace and bath structures, secret passages, many ceramic pieces and war materials have been found. 


In previous excavations in the region, rock tombs belonging to the Roman period were found.
