St. Paul's Church: A Standing Testament in Konya

St. Paul's Church: A Standing Testament in Konya

Standing tall amidst Konya's history is St. Paul's Church, the sole survivor of the city's many Christian houses of worship. Built in 1910, the church holds significance not just for its age, but also for its namesake, St. Paul, who visited Konya, then known as Iconium, during his missionary travels.

Adorned with a captivating Gothic facade, St. Paul's Church is a visual testament to exquisite craftsmanship. Constructed from locally-quarried Sille stone, the church's cruciform plan and pointed-arched vault speak volumes about the architectural style employed.

Today, the church serves as a destination for Christian pilgrims visiting Konya to retrace the steps of St. Paul.  While currently closed on Tuesdays, visitors can plan their visit for Friday afternoons (2-4 PM) or Saturday mornings (11 AM to 1 PM) to experience this piece of Konya's Christian heritage.
