Excavation work at Zazadin Inn, one of Konya's historical and cultural landmarks, uncovered a significant find, leading to the temporary closure of the caravanserai.
Zazadin Inn Caravanserai, a Seljuk cultural heritage site that has carried Konya's ancient history for centuries, closed its doors as of January 1, 2025. It was reported that the Zazadin Inn Caravanserai, a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists visiting the Seljuk Capital of Konya, particularly along the Historical Silk Road as a Seljuk monument, has now been closed.
An important historical artifact was discovered during recent work at Zazadin Inn, which was built by Vizier Sadettin Köpek and dates back to 1236 AD.
A comprehensive study has been initiated by art historians, the Monuments Board, and researchers from the Regional Directorate of Foundations regarding the historical structure, whose purpose and builder are unknown and whose period cannot be determined at first.
It is emphasized that Konya, where history seems to burst forth, may gain another historical artifact through these excavations that will go down in history.
In the statement, it was said, "The important tourism destination in Konya, the Seljuk cultural heritage Zazadin Inn Caravanserai, has been closed as of January 1, 2025. Zazadin Inn Caravanserai, a destination particularly visited by domestic and international tourists coming to the Seljuk Capital, Konya, along the Historical Silk Road as a Seljuk monument, has been closed."
