Musical instruments are produced and repaired in the workshop established at the Necmettin Erbakan University Turkish Music State Conservatory.
Under the leadership of NEU Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu, the Instrument Production, Maintenance, and Repair Workshop established within the conservatory is producing Turkish music instruments while students improve their skills through the lessons they receive.
While academics and students practice their art, they also produce instruments such as the oud, lute (a smaller-bodied instrument than the oud), qanun, violin, tambur, and bağlama with appropriate quality and cost.
The founding director of the conservatory, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Gönül, said, "It is necessary to procure instruments, repair their deformations and breaks, or perform their maintenance. Our instrument workshop within the conservatory is among our indispensable assets. Not all conservatories have such a facility. It is not very common to have a workshop with this equipment. We established this workshop with the project of manufacturing and developing Turkish music instruments."
