Konya Ensemble Performs Sema Ceremony in Vienna

Konya Metropolitan Municipality’s Turkish Sufi Music and Sema Ensemble performed a Sema Ceremony in Vienna, the capital of Austria.

The Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities, the Yunus Emre Institute, the Vienna-based Verein Gemeinsam Für Wien Association, and the Vienna Chamber of Labour (AK Wien) invited the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Turkish Sufi Music and Sema Ensemble to the program held at Akzent Theater, which was organized in cooperation with these institutions.

The organizers conducted the event moderation entirely in German in order to introduce Mevlevi order and Sufi culture to a foreign audience that does not speak Turkish.

A local Sufi music ensemble performed a recital in the first part of the program, and the Mevlevi Ritual and Sema Ceremony were performed in the second part.
