The 797th anniversary of the arrival of Rumi and his family in Konya is being celebrated with various events.
The Teşrif-i Mevlana events, organized by Konya Metropolitan Municipality to mark the 797th anniversary of the arrival of Mevlana and his family in Konya, began this year with great enthusiasm.
As part of the events, a cortege march was held from Depo No:4 to Mevlana Square with the participation of protocol members.
Following the march, Mevlana’s 22nd-generation descendant Esin Çelebi Bayru and her family were welcomed at Mevlana Square by Konya Governor İbrahim Akın, Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, and other protocol members at the end of their 7-day International Walk of Love and Peace from Karaman to Konya.
The events, which drew great interest from the public, concluded with the recitation of the Gülbang prayer at the Mevlana Museum.
As part of the Teşrif-i Mevlana Events, several programs will be held until May 11, including “The Road and the Journey,” the First International Mevlana and Navai Symposium, the 6th Sufi Cinema Festival, and the Fable Workshop (Civilization and Cinema Academy).
