Thousands Fill Mevlana Square for the Eid

Thousands of citizens in Konya filled Mevlana Square early in the morning to perform the Eid al-Fitr prayer.

Citizens who wanted to perform the Eid al-Fitr prayer gathered at Mevlana Square. Thousands of people who filled the square listened to the sermon and then stood in rows to perform the prayer. After the prayer, they all prayed together. Some citizens also visited the cemetery after the prayer.

Ömer Çelik, who performed the Eid al-Fitr prayer in the square, said, "We have performed our Eid al-Fitr prayer. May Allah grant us the opportunity to do it again. May Allah protect us from disasters, floods, and earthquakes. We experienced a major earthquake that affected 11 provinces. May Allah help our brothers and sisters there.  Our hearts and minds are with them during this holiday. We also send our greetings to them and wish everyone a happy holiday."
