Konya Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club is taking the
name of Konya, designated as the 2023 World Sports Capital, to the top of team
sports.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, which is
producing new talents for Turkish sports in 11 different branches, is becoming
a source of pride for Konya with its successes in handball, volleyball, and
basketball. The club, which houses 11 different sports branches, is having a
successful season in team sports.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, which competes
in the Men's Handball 1st League, Turkish Basketball 2nd League, and Turkish
Volleyball 2nd League, has pushed for the top spot in their respective groups
in three different branches and managed to secure their place in the playoffs.
Competing in the Turkish Men's Handball 1st League Group B, Konya Metropolitan
Municipality Sports Club collected 25 points in 16 matches with 12 wins, 1
draw, and 3 losses in a group of 9 teams. The yellow-black team, which
celebrated 616 goals, conceded 489 goals. Metropolitan Municipality Sports
Club, who finished the regular season in second place, earned the right to
participate in the playoffs. The youth teams, including the minors and the
stars, also achieved third place in the Turkey group championships.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, which competes
in the Turkish Men's Volleyball 2nd League Group 4, achieved success in
qualifying for the playoffs in the 2022-2023 season. The team played 9 matches
in a group of 6 teams and won 7 matches while losing 3. After exciting matches,
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club Volleyball Team won 1 match and
lost 2 matches in the playoffs held in Çorum in 3 matches.
Meanwhile, the youth teams of Konya Metropolitan Municipality
Sports Club have also made a name for themselves. The club became the champion
of Konya in the Young, Star, Small, and Midi categories and secured its place
in the Turkish finals. Konya Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club also secured
its place in the playoffs for the first time in the Turkish Basketball 2nd
League, where it had a successful season in Group B with 10 teams. The team
also drew attention with its home performance, winning 6 out of 9 home matches
and earning 1 point from 3 matches. Basketball has U10, U11, U12, U14, and U16
teams in the youth categories, with the U14 team finishing third in Konya and
the U16 team finishing second. Matches are still ongoing in the U10, U11, and
U12 categories.
